Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, born on March 26, 1991 also known professionally as Ari Lennox, hails from Washington, D.C. and is the debut female signing to J. Cole's Dreamville Records label. In October 21st, 2016 she debuted Pho, her debut EP under the label Dreamville Records. This was when she first gained recognition. Shea Butter Baby, her debut studio album was released May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox first uploaded songs online in the year 2012. The singer released her debut album Ariography as well as her debut mixtape in 2013, five Finger Discount. Ari Lennox continued to upload her tracks online through 2014, including the independently-released single Bound. On July 21 2015 Omen featured her on his album Elephant Eyes with the track Sweat it Out. Later that year her music began to circulate all over the Dreamville team, as J. Cole wanted her to collaborate with him on some potential references to Rihanna. On December 8 it was announced that she was officially signed by Dreamville Records. Backseat was a track she co-wrote with Cozz on the album collaboratively titled Revenge of the Dreamers II. In October of 2016 the singer-songwriter released her debut EP, Pho. Ari Lennox performed the song Change by J. Cole as well as being an opener on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017. She was accompanied by EarthGang. In 2018, she performed as a guest performer on two tracks, including EarthGang's Nothing but the Best song and Bas's Icarus. On July 16 2018 Ari Lennox released the first single Whipped Cream from her debut album Shea Butter Baby with an accompanying music video, which was released on September 5. On the 9th of November 2018 the singer released two more singles, titled 40 Shades of Choke (and Grampa). In November 13, she released two more singles called One and Pedigree. One or Pedigree. Then she appeared in the Creed II soundtrack with Cole on a track titled Shea Butter Baby on November 16th. She released the single on February 26, 2019 for her debut album the same name. The 20th of February, 2019, a music clip was released to promote the song. It already has nearly 3 million hits on YouTube in its initial week. In December 2018, she performed as performing as a support act on From East Atlanta With Love Tour. From East Atlanta With Love Tour together with 6LACK.
